Happy to know that there are still good people in the world..

Went biking to UP Diliman on Monday to give my bike a thorough workout.  It was a cloudy day and it had rained even as I was biking.  I didn't really mind this since I was already used to biking in the rain.  But barely halfway into my ride, I was shocked to learn that my rear tire was getting deflated really fast.  Much to my horror I found that a shard of glass had punctured my tire and it was quickly becoming a flat tire.

Much to my chagrin, I only had P12.00 left in my pocket and was not enough to pay for a vulcanizing job to get the tire fixed.  The guy at the vulcanizing shop just put some air into the tire and told me to try and make it back as far as I could before the air ran out since the rate that the air was going out wasn't that fast.  I gave him P2.00 and set off.

So I took a gamble and made the trip home.  I had already called up my dad in advance in case I needed some assistance and was confident that someone had my back. The rain started pouring hard as I was slowly riding from Balara to Loyola Grand Villas.  And just as I had made my way up Tumana bridge, the tire was already out of air.  I found my way to another vulcanizing shop and asked for assistance to put air into my tire.  The lady boss of the shop took pity on my situation and told me that they would vulcanize my tire even if I didn't have enough money.  I was so happy at this kind gesture.

The vulcanizing of the tire was quite difficult but the manongs at the shop got it done.  I promised to come back and pay for the rest of the money I owed them and they just smiled as I left.  And when I did come back later and offered to pay for double the cost of a vulcanizing job, the lady boss would not take a peso more than what I owed them.  This kind gesture really melted my heart.  It really made me realize that there are still good people in the world and that I should still have faith in my fellow men.

Despite the hardships I had that Monday morning, the kindness of those people more than made up for it.  God bless you!
