Some observations of local Philippine cinema

Been getting to watch some Philippine-made movies lately and I have to say that they have generally improved.
- Story lines are improving
- Cinematography is improving
- Directing is greatly improved
- Pacing is improving
- Acting has stayed pretty much the same though

But there are definitely some things that have yet to improve:
- Editing
- Staging of outdoor scenes is too artificial
- Special effects have yet to get there
- Sound editing is horrible that lines are still dubbed in!
- Sound effects are too artificial

I know that making a movie is no easy feat.  And I also know that it's a very expensive business.  I guess I'm glad that it has greatly improved (though some films still suck!) and I look forward to it improving further..  Not that I'm saying that I now like watching the local stuff, but I want to give credit to the local people keeping the local industry alive.

It would be a shame of the industry would die out because Pinoys would no longer patronize local films over foreign-made ones..
