POETRY: In that Moment

IN THAT MOMENT


I watch the screen as we sit quietly.
Facing forward yet feeling uneasy.
I grow ever aware of you beside me.
wondering how tonight will be.

The cold air soon catches us both unprepared,
sending shivers to an already tense moment.
You gave me your hand for warmth.
So I put my arms around you for comfort.

My heart pounds and I am all flushed,
as the scent of your hair makes me lose myself.
 I try to watch the movie yet again,
hoping it will not yet come to an end.

The rest of the night goes like a blur
as our time together seems so short.
I wonder if you felt it too..
In that moment that I spent with you.

I had only slept for 2.5 hours when I woke up with the idea for this one.  I found myself unable to go back to sleep as I tossed and turned in my bed.  I decided to get up and write it and it is what you see now..  Luckily, I was still able to go back to sleep after I had finished putting this one into words.
