Memories of Christmas

On the road yesterday I saw a lot of youngsters all dressed up in their Sunday best.  At first I was thinking as to why they'd be dressed up like that, but then I came to the realization that they were all dressed to attend their class Christmas parties.  And this brought me back to the time of when I was still in secondary school and went through the same ritual.

The last day of the year is usually when the class Christmas party is held.  And normally it would be a potluck affair.  But in our school, we would have a committee that would handle all the preparation.  Usually, the class officers would be the ones who would be roped into all this tedious work under the guidance of the teacher.  Looking back, while all this work is indeed hard for a secondary school student, it made for good practical education.

But hey, since I never got elected as a class officer, all I had to do was dress up, bring my exchange gift, and show up at the party.  It was always fun for everybody to come to school all dressed up and to share a meal together.  And seeing your classmates dressed in clothes other than their uniforms could be a real treat.  For some it would be a chance to show off their best clothes, and for others it would be their chance to impress upon their crushes.

Aaah those were the days.  Christmas is really for kids.  And seeing those kids yesterday all dressed up and smiling really put a smile in my heart.  Have a nice day!
