POETRY: Maelstrom in My Washing Machine

MAELSTROM IN MY WASHING MACHINE

To be or not to be.
To go or not to go.
To do or not to do it.
To love or not to love.

Two choices often at ends
Two maybe three maybe four
Who knows how many choices there are?
Only your deity can tell you.

I give yet I take.
You receive yet you give back.
Hem and haw as the ball comes back.
Have you been keeping score?

The beginning is also an end.
And the end marks another beginning.
It goes round and around yet again.
I am spinning.

I want to stop spinning
because I can no longer see.
I dare not stop
for I do not know what comes next.

I want the world to be quiet
but I want you to talk to me.
I seem to be confused.
Are you confused?

In a world full of nothing
I seem to have everything.
In a life full of meaning
I seem to have lost mine.

In the end it makes no sense.
Was it ever supposed to?
My head is still spinning
What was I supposed to be doing?

Nothing.
